Born Clothing moved all their city-centre stores to Eyre Square Shopping Centre during 2022, and later in the year closed Newtownsmith. Roots bravely stayed open until Christmas, but announced that Newtonsmith was closing in late December.

Opened in July 2020, Roots Café & Bistro is the latest in a long line of cafe to try in this stunning riverside location - which unfortunately has street side access only, accessed through Born clothing.
It's a great cafe: established with a desire to combine a long tradition of Italian pizza dough making and with fresh locally sourced produce, fusing the strengths of Italian and Irish culinary delights, and run by people who have a long established career in the local café and restaurant business.
They have a number of locations across Galway city and county, with the menu varying to suit the outlet. Newtonsmith is a full-service Italian restaurant, open for lunch and dinner - and also great to visit asa daytime cafe due to the fantastic light-filled, high-ceiling dining area.
