This local designer, artist and crafts outlet started in November 2018, when
locally based retail and hospitality professionals, Luke Anthony and Maggie
Murphy decided to open a store which offered designers and artists a way to
sell their works through either traditional retail or on a shelf-to-rent
basis.
The original shop was downstairs in Corbett Court section of the Eyre Square
Shopping Centre, in a unit that had been long-vacant. In August
2020, they moved to a smaller stop on the corner of Cross Streets in Kirwan
Lane, previously the home of Yes flowers and next door to Judy Greene's, which offered the advantages of
natural light to showcase the art-works, and a far higher number of people
passing by. And it had exterior walls which were used as a canvas by
various local artists and the Cartoon Festival.
Offering products from 80 or more local artists, craftspeople and designers
(who they called stockists), the store was a veritable emporium of Irish
design, giftware and homeware, with products including artworks,
ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, candles, wooden and leather products, bags,
books and more.
With little fanfare, and no public announcements, the Cross Street shop closed
late September 2023.
